"Double" Submissions by Dolly Salazar

I was thrilled to receive the following "Double" photos from my friend, Dolly Salazar.

"Finally, my entries for this week's/month's subject! (Look, I get lazy about sending my film to be developed in the dead of winter.) These are all (c) 2009.

Doppelganger was an accident, I was actually out trying to get pictures of boats (none of which were very interesting).

The two pumpkins in Two Pumpkins have been sitting on our deck since October; this was taken in January. I now believe I can cryogenically freeze myself in my own backyard.

And I was so inspired by your Double Entendre that I used up a whole roll of film on macro shots of the naughty bits of fruits, Sour Nipple being my favorite."

"Double" submission by Lisa Haney

Untitled (c) by Lisa Haney

About her photograph, my friend Lisa writes "Tina, I'm embarrased I missed your original date. This is my "Double," from Smith Rocks. I turned around from the rock I was sitting on, and saw this. Lion boys, both peeping through the same shrub. One of my favorites...."

Double Posts Re-Opened!!

Double Entendre (c) 2008 by Tina M. Harris

Okay, here's the deal: I have obviously not posted a new word yet. Call it laziness, blame it on the fact that I have been under the weather ... whatever. The thing is, I am trying to get myself on a schedule with these things and so far I have failed miserably. In any case, I have decided to extend the deadline for you to submit your "Double" photos (and if you have already submitted something, but want to send another photo -- or two -- here's your chance!) The new deadline is now Sunday, February 1st at 5 p.m.

Oh good, you are still reading. That is encouraging!

I plan to post a new word on Monday, February 2nd -- honest -- so don't hesitate! Email your poetic license photo to me at poeticlicensephotoblog@hotmail.com and share your interpretation of the word "Double" today!

Time Enough by Helen Bascom

Time Enough (c) by Helen Bascom

"The piece I have attached for the word challenge DOUBLE is titled Time Enough. It was inspired by the first season Twilight Zone episode, Time Enough At Last.

I achieved this result by shooting through a toy kaleidescope in a dark setting with a low level spot light on the clock face." -- Helen Bascom

All I can say is I am doubly pleased with this entry! For starters, Helen chose my absolute favorite "Twilight Zone" episode as her inspiration for this beautiful image, and then she used a technique that never in a million years would have occurred to me!

Thank you, Helen, for being our first submission in 2009. I am looking forward to lots more inspiring photographs in the days and weeks (and months!) to follow!!
