Stuck submissions by Yvette Casillas Hall

I am thrilled to post two photographs from a Los Angeles photographer named Yvette Casillas Hall. Yvette is the sister of a woman I worked with at KPCC-FM in Pasadena, California. (Yvette, please give Veronica a hug for me when you see her!) This is my first introduction to Yvette and her work, and I have to say I love her interpretations of the word "stuck." It's exciting to me to have had so many wonderful photographs submitted for the blog since it started a few weeks ago!

About her photographs Yvette writes "It's ironic that the man holding the going out of business sign is stuck below a sign directing traffic to Harmony Rd or Sunnyside Rd. I guess he's headed to neither.

"Both men are 'stuck' in unwanted/unpleasant situations."

Stuck by Tina M. Harris

Okay, here's a photo that I took recently for the current theme. I wasn't going to post it, but after working on it a little bit I decided to add it after all.

Hanging On

This photograph was originally posted on my other blog (click here to read the original post) on October 21, 2007. I felt the photograph fit our current theme very nicely -- and as I have been stuck trying to come up with a new work to represent the word I thought I would post a previous photograph instead.

Snowbike 2006 by Dolly Salazar

About this photo, Dolly said "Of course, we neglected to put the bicycles inside the garage before the storm hit. They were stuck in the snow, and we were stuck in the house, for about a week."

Gelatin silver print, Kodak Plus-X.

What You Get
for Being Stubborn

by Dolly Salazar

"My granddaughter Evelyn stuck in her walker. She refused assistance climbing in, got both feet stuck in one leg hole, and then refused assistance to get out. This was taken just as panic set in. Gelatin silver print, Ilford Fuji Neopan SS."
