Ancient Musician in Liang by Lee Klein

The photograph below was sent to me by our friend Lee Klein of the travel site The California Native International Adventures. Lee is the wonderful husband of our dear friend Ellen Klein, who submitted a wonderful "blue" photo of Yosemite last week.

Lee took created this portrait when he and Ellen traveled through Province, China last February. About the photograph he said "The gentleman is a member of the 'Ancient Musicians' orchestra in the city of Lijiang. The musicians play the ancient Chinese instruments and preserve the ethnic music of the area. Most are in their 80's or 90's. They hid their instruments during Mao's Cultural Revolution."

This is a fitting image given the current theme, and also given the fact that the eyes of the world are about to be on China as the Olympics get underway. Thank you, Lee, for this beautiful photograph!
